Bridge 55588, on 4th St SE, crosses over Bear Creek and consists of a 3-span prestressed concrete beam structure with a total length of 180 ft. The roadway is 65 ft wide, and includes 4 traffic lanes and a raised center median. Concrete sidewalks and raised concrete planters on each side of the bridge result in a total out-to-out deck width of 100 ft. Ornamental railing, lighting, concrete formliner, and stone veneer facing were included in the design, as well as several conduit systems for utilities including steam, water, telephone, power, and irrigation.
Due to large traffic volume, the structure was designed to maintain traffic on the bridge during construction. Bridge 55588 replaced a structurally deficient bridge.
